Selection Process

The selection process for Assistant Sub Inspector (Computer) and Head Constable (Computer) involves the following stages:

1. First Stage Examination:

Candidates must appear in both the written and technical examinations (where applicable).

  • Written Examination (General Paper - MCQ):
    • Duration: 2 hours

Candidates will be shortlisted seven times the number of vacancies in vertical categories based on the cut-off percentile from the combined scores of the First Stage Written Exam and Technical Exam for the Physical Efficiency Test and Technical Practical Exam.

2. Second Stage Examination:

  • Physical Efficiency Test (PET):
    • This test is of a qualifying nature only. Marks obtained in PET will NOT be added to the final merit list.
    • Candidates must secure a minimum of 20% marks (8 out of 40) in the 800-meter race.
    • Only one attempt will be given for the 800-meter race.
    • No relaxation will be given based on health or any other reason for the PET.
  • Technical Practical Examination (Only for ASI (Computer) & Head Constable (Computer)):
    • Maximum Marks: 100
    • Minimum Qualifying Marks: 30%
    • This exam will assess technical knowledge of Computer/Information Technology, Computer Networking & Software.
    • Marks obtained in the Technical Practical Examination WILL BE ADDED to the final merit list.

3. Physical Standards Test (PST):

4. Medical Examination:

Conducted by the District Medical Board. Criteria include:

  • Height measurement.
  • Vision: No eye disease/disorder. Uncorrected vision acuity not less than 6/9 in one eye and 6/12 in the other. Candidates must be able to differentiate between primary colors (tested via Ishihara plates).
  • No knock-knees or flat feet.
  • No physical disability.

5. Document Verification:

All original documents will be verified by the selection committee after the Physical Efficiency Test. Candidates found ineligible during document verification will be disqualified, irrespective of their performance in other stages.

6. Character Verification:

Conducted based on guidelines from the Home Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh. Candidates providing false information or hiding facts will be disqualified.

7. Final Selection:

Final selection for technical posts (ASI and Head Constable Computer) will be based on the total marks obtained in the First Stage Written Exam, First Stage Technical Exam, and Second Stage Technical Practical Exam, provided the candidate has scored minimum qualifying marks in the PET and Practical Exam. Candidates will be allocated units/posts based on their merit, preference, and availability.

A waiting list of 15% of the total vacancies will be prepared, valid for one year or until the declaration of results of the next examination, whichever is earlier.

Note on Stipend: As per the General Administration Department, Government of M.P. order dated 12 December 2019, selected candidates will receive a stipend during the probation period:

  • First year: 70% of the minimum pay scale
  • Second year: 80% of the minimum pay scale
  • Third year: 90% of the minimum pay scale

In addition to the pay scale, other allowances and emoluments approved by the government from time to time will be payable. A Defined Contributory Pension System will be applicable for employees appointed on or after January 1, 2005.
