Selection Process Permanent
Selection will be based on a competitive examination consisting of two papers. Candidates need to secure minimum qualifying marks (40%, relaxable by 5% for SC/ST) in each paper.
- Paper-I: 200 Marks (2 hours, 100 Multiple Choice Questions) - General Knowledge of Rajasthan (Geographical, Historical, Cultural), Current Affairs of Rajasthan, General Knowledge of World and India, Educational Psychology.
- Paper-II: 200 Marks (2 hours, 100 Multiple Choice Questions) - Related to Library Science topics (Universe of knowledge, Bibliographic description, Methods of knowledge organization, Standard schemes of classification like CC, DDC, UDC).
- Negative Marking: Applicable. 1/3rd of the marks for each wrong answer will be deducted.
Syllabus
Paper-I:
- Geographical, Historical, Cultural and general knowledge of Rajasthan.
- Current Affairs of Rajasthan.
- General knowledge of world and India.
- Educational Psychology.
Paper-II:
- Universe of knowledge (Structure and Attributes, Modes of formation of subjects, Different types of subjects, Universe of subjects as mapped in different schemes of Classification).
- Bibliographic description (Catalog purpose, structure and types, physical forms including OPAC filling rules, Normative principals of cataloging, Overview of principles of practice in document description, Current trends in standardization, description and exchange, Standard code of cataloging).
- Methods of knowledge organization (General theory of Library classification, Normative principles of classification and their applications, Species of Library classification).
- Standard schemes of classification and their features (CC, DDC, UDC), Notation, Design and development of library classification schemes, standard subdivision index, Trends in Library classification, Subject Classification, Principles of subject classification, Subject heading lists and their features.

Salary Criteria
Pay Matrix Level-10 as per the 7th Pay Commission. (Rs. 29,200 - Rs. 92,300 approximately as per Level-10 pay scale).
During the probation period (2 years), a fixed remuneration will be paid as determined by the state government.
