UP Police Sub-Inspector (Confidential), Assistant Sub-Inspector (Clerical) & Assistant Sub-Inspector (Accounts) Recruitment

The Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB) has announced a recruitment drive for the posts of Police Sub-Inspector (Confidential), Police Assistant Sub-Inspector (Clerical), and Police Assistant Sub-Inspector (Accounts) for both male and female candidates.

A total of 537 vacancies are available across these categories. Interested candidates must complete a One Time Registration (OTR) before applying online. The application process, including fee submission, starts on December 20, 2025.

Fees

  • General / EWS / Other Backward Class (OBC) candidates: ₹500/-
  • Scheduled Caste (SC) / Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidates: ₹400/-

The deposited fee will not be refunded under any circumstances.

Age limit

As of July 1, 2025, candidates must have completed 21 years of age and must not have completed more than 28 years of age. This means a candidate must have been born not earlier than July 1, 1997, and not later than July 1, 2004.

Age Relaxation (only for native residents of Uttar Pradesh):

  • Scheduled Caste (SC): 5 years
  • Scheduled Tribe (ST): 5 years
  • Other Backward Class (OBC): 5 years
  • State Government Employees: 5 years
  • Ex-Servicemen: 3 years (after deducting service period from actual age)

Note: If a candidate claims age relaxation under multiple categories, only the most beneficial relaxation will be applied.

Eligibilty

Nationality:

  • A citizen of India, or
  • A Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanent residence in India, or
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, or East African countries like Kenya, Uganda, and the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar) with the intention of permanent residence in India.

Note: Candidates in categories (b) and (c) must possess an eligibility certificate issued by the State Government.

Educational Qualification (as of the last date of application):

1. For Police Sub-Inspector (Confidential):

  • Bachelor's degree from a university established by law in India or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Government.
  • Hindi typing speed of at least 25 words per minute (on Inscript keyboard in Unicode) and English typing speed of at least 30 words per minute.
  • Hindi Stenography dictation at a minimum speed of 80 words per minute.
  • "O" Level examination in Computer from the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT Society) (formerly DOEACC Society) or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Government.

2. For Police Assistant Sub-Inspector (Clerical):

  • Bachelor's degree from a university established by law in India or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Government.
  • Hindi typing speed of at least 25 words per minute (on Inscript keyboard in Unicode) and English typing speed of at least 30 words per minute.
  • "O" Level examination in Computer from NIELIT Society (formerly DOEACC Society) or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Government.

3. For Police Assistant Sub-Inspector (Accounts):

  • Bachelor's degree in Commerce from a university established by law in India or a Post-Graduate Diploma in Accountancy or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Government.
  • Hindi typing speed of at least 15 words per minute (on Inscript keyboard in Unicode).
  • "O" Level examination in Computer from NIELIT Society (formerly DOEACC Society) or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Government.

Note: Appearing or Appeared candidates are not eligible. Candidates must possess all required educational qualifications, mark sheets, or certificates at the time of application.

Preferential Qualifications:

In case of equal merit, preference will be given to candidates who possess:

  • Higher certification from DOEACC / NIELIT Society or a Graduate degree in Computer Applications/Technology recognized by the Government or a higher qualification.
  • A Law degree from an institution or college or university recognized by the University Grants Commission.
  • Served in the Territorial Army for a minimum period of two years.
  • Obtained a 'B' certificate of the National Cadet Corps.

Character:

The candidate's character should be such that they are suitable for government service in all respects. The appointing authority will satisfy itself in this regard.

Marital Status:

A person who has married a person having a living spouse, or who has married another person while having a living spouse, shall not be eligible for appointment to service.

Physical Fitness:

No candidate shall be appointed to any post in the service unless he is in good mental and bodily health and is free from any physical defect likely to interfere with the efficient performance of his duties. Physically handicapped persons are not eligible for police services.

The salary for the selected candidates will be as per the rules and regulations of the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board. Specific pay scale details are not provided in this notification.

The selection process will involve the following stages:

  1. Offline Written Examination:
    • A 400-mark objective type examination.
    • Subjects: General Hindi/Computer Knowledge (100 marks), General Knowledge/Current Affairs (100 marks), Numerical & Mental Ability Test (100 marks), Mental Aptitude Test/IQ Test/Reasoning (100 marks).
    • Candidates must score at least 35% marks (normalized) in each subject and 40% marks (normalized) in total to be eligible.
    • Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes (150 minutes) with 200 questions.
    • OMR-based examination. Normalization of marks will be done if the exam is conducted in multiple shifts/days.
  2. Document Verification (DV) & Physical Standard Test (PST):
    • Candidates who qualify the written exam will be called for DV and PST.
    • DV involves verification of all submitted documents related to eligibility, age relaxation, reservation, etc.
    • PST Minimum Standards:
      • For Male Candidates:
        • Height: General/OBC/SC - 163 cm; ST - 156 cm.
        • Chest: General/OBC/SC - 77 cm (unexpanded), 82 cm (expanded); ST - 75 cm (unexpanded), 80 cm (expanded). Minimum 5 cm chest expansion is mandatory.
      • For Female Candidates:
        • Height: General/OBC/SC - 150 cm; ST - 145 cm.
        • Weight: Minimum 40 kg.
  3. Computer Typing & Stenography Test:
    • Qualifying in nature for candidates successful in DV/PST.
    • All candidates will take Hindi & English typing tests as per the applied post's requirements.
    • Only candidates who applied for Police Sub-Inspector (Confidential) and pass the computer typing test will appear for the stenography test.
  4. Medical Examination:
    • Conducted by a Medical Board constituted by the Chief Medical Officer.

  7. Final Merit List:
    • Based on total normalized marks in the written exam, preference of posts, and reservation policy.
    • In case of tie, preference is given to preferential qualifications, then older age, then alphabetical order of names on High School certificate.

  1. One Time Registration (OTR):
    • Visit the UPPRPB official website: https://uppbpb.gov.in.
    • Click on the "Link for Application" and complete your OTR. This is mandatory for all applicants.
    • You will need a unique Email ID and Mobile Number for OTR. These cannot be changed later.
    • DigiLocker account verification is required.
    • Fill in your personal details, create a password, and complete the registration using Captcha.
  2. Online Application Submission:
    • After OTR, log in using your Account ID/Password, Aadhaar, or DigiLocker credentials.
    • Carefully fill out the online application form for "Police Sub-Inspector (Confidential), Police Assistant Sub-Inspector (Clerical) & Police Assistant Sub-Inspector (Accounts) Direct Recruitment-2025".
    • Government employees must upload a "No Objection Certificate" (NOC).
  3. Document Upload:
    • Upload educational, reservation, age relaxation, domicile, and other required certificates through DigiLocker if available.
    • If not available on DigiLocker, scan and upload copies of the documents.
  4. Photograph and Signature Upload:
    • Real-time (Live) Photograph: Captured using a webcam during the application process. Ensure no cap, mask, hair, clothing, shadow, or ornaments cover the face. Eyes must be clearly visible (no glare on glasses). Photo should not be blurred or overly bright. Do not wear any uniform.
    • Scanned Signature: Sign with black ink on a white paper within a 50mm x 20mm box. Signature must be in running letters (not block letters). Format: JPG/JPEG. Size: 50mm x 20mm or 140 x 60 pixels. File size: 30KB to 50KB.
  5. Fee Payment:
    • Proceed to pay the application fee using Debit Card, Credit Card, Internet Banking, or UPI.
  6. Review and Submission:
    • Before submitting the fee, candidates can modify their application details.
    • After successful fee submission, the application will be automatically submitted upon printing. Candidates are advised to preview and print a copy of the filled application form for future reference.
