Eligibilty Criteria

Nationality Only Indian Nationals are eligible to apply.
Educational Qualifications Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) Degree or equivalent from a Central Govt./State Govt. recognized Institution/University in any of the following disciplines:
  • Telecommunications
  • Electronics
  • Radio
  • Computer
  • Electrical
  • Information Technology (IT)
  • Instrumentation
The candidates must possess the requisite educational qualification from a recognized University on or before the closing date of receipt of application.
Candidates possessing higher qualifications (e.g., M.Tech) in the prescribed disciplines are also eligible.
The applicant must be capable of distinguishing principal colors and should have binocular vision.

Selection Process

The selection process will be based on a Computer Based Multiple Choice Objective Type Test (CBT). The test will comprise three sections: Engineering Stream Section - I, Engineering Stream Section - II, and General Ability Test Section - III. Candidates will be shortlisted based on their performance in this test. Final selection will be subject to qualifying in the CBT, document verification, and medical examination.

Scheme of Examination:

The examination will be a Computer Based Multiple Choice Objective Type Test of 3 hours duration, consisting of the following three sectional papers:

  • Section - I: Engineering Stream - I
  • Section - II: Engineering Stream - II
  • Section - III: General Ability Test

Marking Scheme:

  • Each correct answer: +4 Marks
  • Each wrong answer: -1 Mark

  • Unreserved/OBC(CL) Candidates: 40% in each Section and 50% overall.
  • SC/ST, OBC(NCL), PwBD, EWS Candidates: 35% in each Section and 45% overall.

  • Engineering Stream Section - I & II: Covers topics like Materials and components, Physical Electronics, Electron Devices and ICs, Network theory, Electromagnetic Theory, Electronic Measurements and Instrumentation, Power Electronics, Analog Electronic Circuits, Digital Electronic Circuits, Control Systems, Communication Systems, Microwave Engineering, Computer Engineering, Microprocessors. (Detailed syllabus provided in Annexure-B of the notification).
  • General Ability Test Section - III: Assesses comprehension and understanding of General English, current events, scientific aspects of everyday observations, Telecommunications, History of India, and Geography.

The Junior Telecom Officer (Telecom) [JTO(T)-DR] will be recruited in the IDA pay scale [E-1] of ₹16,400 - ₹40,500/- (2nd PRC pay scale w.e.f. 01.01.2007).
