Selection Process

The selection process for the post of Constable (Operator) will involve the following stages:

(A) First Stage – Written Examination:

  • After collection of applications, eligible candidates will be called for a written examination.
  • The exam will be 100 marks, consisting of 100 multiple-choice questions in a single 2-hour paper. Each correct answer carries 1 mark.
  • The examination will be OMR sheet-based.
  • The standard of the written examination will be of the Intermediate (10+2) level, similar to the Bihar School Examination Board.
  • The question paper will include 25 questions on General Knowledge and Current Affairs, and 25 questions each from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (Intermediate level).
  • Candidates scoring less than 30% marks in the written examination will be declared unsuccessful for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET).
  • Based on the marks obtained in the written examination, approximately 5 times the number of advertised vacancies, category-wise, will be selected for the Physical Efficiency Test.

(B) Second Stage – Physical Efficiency Test (PET):

  • Candidates qualified in the written exam will be called for the PET.
  • Appearing and qualifying in PET is mandatory. No relaxation in minimum physical standards.
  • Pregnant female candidates are not allowed to participate in PET.
  • PET will consist of Race, High Jump, and Shot Put. Candidates must qualify separately in all three events.
  • PET is of qualifying nature only; no marks will be awarded. However, failure to meet the minimum standards will result in disqualification. Physical measurements (height, chest for males, weight for females) will also be checked.
  • Events and Eligibility:
    • Race:
      • For All Category Male Candidates: 1 Mile (1.6 km) in a maximum of 6 minutes.
      • For All Category Female Candidates: 1 km in a maximum of 6 minutes.
      • Candidates exceeding the specified time will be disqualified.
    • High Jump:
      • For All Category Male Candidates: 3 feet 6 inches.
      • For All Category Female Candidates: 2 feet 6 inches.
    • Shot Put:
      • For All Category Male Candidates: 16 pounds for 15 feet.
      • For All Category Female Candidates: 12 pounds for 8 feet.
  • Three opportunities will be provided for each of the High Jump and Shot Put events.
  • Note: Physical efficiency test standards for Transgender candidates will be the same as for female candidates.

(C) Third Stage – Document Verification:

  • Documents related to educational qualification, age, and reservation claims of candidates successful in the PET will be verified by the Board.
  • Candidates must appear at the specified time and place with all original certificates and one self-attested photocopy. No second opportunity or extension will be granted.

(D) Merit List:

  • The merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained in the written examination, category-wise, as per the vacancies.
  • In case of a tie in marks, the order will be determined by age (older candidate ranked higher), then by educational qualification (higher qualification ranked higher), then by marks in the qualifying examination (higher marks ranked higher), and finally by the alphabetical order of names as per the 10th board certificate.

(E) Medical Examination, Character and Antecedent Verification:

  • Before appointment, a medical examination as per Form No. 103 and character and antecedent verification as per Form No. 101 of Bihar Police Manual, 1978 will be conducted by the appointing authority.
  • Candidates must be free from any disease, structural defect, or physical disability that renders them unfit for duty.
  • A medical examination will check for vision defects, color blindness, hearing ability, stammering, flat-foot, knocking-knee, etc. Being medically fit is mandatory for selected candidates.

Syllabus

The written examination will be of Intermediate (10+2) level, following the syllabus of the Bihar School Examination Board. The single question paper for the Constable (Operator) post will have the following distribution:

    • Upload Documents: Upload a recent (within two months) color photograph (white background, 15-25 KB, .jpg/.jpeg/.gif format) and separate signatures in English and Hindi (black/blue ink, white background, 15-25 KB, .jpg/.jpeg/.gif format).
  • Before final submission, review all details by clicking "Edit Details". Once confirmed and submitted, details cannot be edited.
  • After final submission, a confirmation message will be sent to your registered mobile number/email ID.
  • Print the acknowledgment receipt of your filled application form (on A4 size paper) and keep it safe for future reference and correspondence.
  • Only one online application form can be filled per candidate. Multiple applications will lead to rejection of all applications.
