Selection Process

The selection shall be made through examination schemes mentioned below. Marks scored in the Computer Based Test/Exam will be normalized (if required) to determine final merit and provisional nomination/selection.

  • Examination Scheme: The examination typically consists of One-Tier (General or Technical) or Two-Tier (General or Technical-2) exams.
    • One-Tier (General/Technical) Exams: Generally 2 hours, 200 questions, 200 marks (MCQ). Comprises General Awareness, General Intelligence & Reasoning, Arithmetical & Numerical Ability, Hindi Language & Comprehension, and English Language & Comprehension. Technical exams include an additional subject-specific section.
    • Two-Tier (General/Technical-2) Exams: Tier-I (qualifying, 2 hours, 200 MCQs, 200 marks) and Tier-II. Tier-II (3 hours) consists of Part-I (MCQ - 200 questions, 200 marks on General Intelligence & Reasoning, Quantitative Ability, General Awareness (with Delhi emphasis), English Language & Comprehension) and Part-II (Descriptive - 75 marks for General, 50 marks for Technical-2, including Essay and Letter writing/Expansion of ideas in English). Final selection is based on Tier-II marks.
  • Negative Marking: A deduction of 0.25 marks will be made for each wrong Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) answer.
  • Minimum Qualifying Marks: The Board has fixed the following minimum qualifying marks for the written examination (Objective), wherever applicable:
    • General/EWS: 40%
    • OBC (Delhi): 35%
    • SC/ST/PH (PwBD): 30%
    • Ex-Servicemen: 5% relaxation in their respective categories subject to a minimum of 30%.

    Note: In One Tier Technical and Two Tier examinations, specific minimum qualifying marks apply to the domain subject-specific sections/parts, and candidates must also meet cumulative qualifying marks.

  • Skill Test: Skill Test / Physical Endurance Test / Driving Test / Trade Test etc. will be taken as per requirement of the job for specific posts.
  • Tie-Breaking Criteria: In case of equal marks, merit is determined by higher marks in the subject-specific section (for technical posts), then seniority in age, and finally alphabetical order of the first name. For general posts, seniority in age, then alphabetical order of the first name.

Syllabus

The examination syllabus varies based on the Tier and type of examination (General or Technical) for each post. However, common broad categories are:
