Eligibilty Criteria

Educational Qualification:

General Eligibility Conditions:

• Citizenship: Must be a citizen of India or Nepal.
• Employment Registration: Live registration with the Madhya Pradesh State Employment Office is mandatory on the application date for all posts.
• Permanent Resident: Permanent residents of Madhya Pradesh must submit a permanent caste certificate issued by a competent authority. Applicants who are not permanent residents of Madhya Pradesh can only apply under the Unreserved/Open category and will not receive any reservation or age relaxation benefits.
• Physical Fitness: Candidates must be physically fit for the respective services.
• Children Policy: Candidates with more than two living children, one of whom was born on or after January 26, 2001, are ineligible. However, if there is one living child, and the subsequent delivery on or after January 26, 2001, results in two or more children, they will not be disqualified.
• Marital Status (Male): Male candidates with more than one living wife are generally ineligible, unless special exemption is granted by the government.
• Criminal Record: Candidates convicted for any crime against women or found ineligible during police verification for government service will be disqualified.

Reservation Details

Note:

• Category reservations apply for UR, SC, ST, OBC, EWS, Ex-Servicemen, Home Guard, Contract Employees, and Excellent Sportsmen as per government rules.

• PwD (Persons with Disabilities) reservation is not applicable for these posts due to physical requirements.

Selection Process

The selection process will involve multiple stages:

1. First Stage: Written Examination
   • Conducted by Madhya Pradesh Staff Selection Board (ESB).
   • The written exam will be of 100 marks (objective type, 2 hours duration) covering General Knowledge, General Hindi, General English, General Mathematics, and General Science.
   • Minimum qualifying marks: 33% for Unreserved, 23% for SC/ST/OBC, and a 10% relaxation in minimum qualifying marks for EWS candidates (selection based on merit).
2. Second Stage: Physical Measurement & Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
   • For Forest Guard and Field Guard: Physical Measurement and Walking Test. Candidates will be called 5 times the number of vacancies based on written exam merit.
     • Physical Measurement: Male - Height 163 cm, Chest 79 cm (expansion 5 cm); Female - Height 150 cm. (Relaxations for SC/ST).
     • Walking Test: Male - 25 km in 4 hours; Female - 14 km in 4 hours. (Qualifying only).
   • For Jail Guard: Physical Measurement and Physical Proficiency Test. Candidates will be called 10 times the number of vacancies based on written exam merit.
     • Physical Measurement: Male - Height 165 cm, Chest 83 cm (unexpanded); Female - Height 158 cm.
     • Physical Proficiency Test: 800m Race (Male: 2 min 50 sec, Female: 4 min, Ex-Serviceman: 3 min 15 sec) and Shot Put (Male: 20 ft with 7.260 kg, Female: 16 ft with 4 kg, Ex-Serviceman: 15 ft with 7.260 kg).
   • For Assistant Jail Superintendent: Physical Measurement and Physical Proficiency Test. Candidates will be called 10 times the number of vacancies based on written exam merit.
     • Physical Measurement: Male - Height 168 cm, Chest 84 cm (unexpanded), 89 cm (expanded); Female - Height 155 cm.
     • Physical Proficiency Test: 800m Race (Male: 2 min 40 sec, Female: 3 min 40 sec, Ex-Serviceman: 3 min 15 sec), Long Jump (Male: 13 ft, Female: 10 ft, Ex-Serviceman: 10 ft), and Shot Put (Male: 19 ft with 7.260 kg, Female: 15 ft with 4 kg, Ex-Serviceman: 15 ft with 7.260 kg).
   • Physical Measurement and PET will be qualifying in nature. Video recording will be done for physical tests.
3. Document Verification:
   • Original documents and attested copies will be verified during the physical test phase.
4. Medical Examination:
   • Selected candidates will undergo a medical examination.
5. Final Merit List:
   • A final merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained in the written examination and successful completion of the physical tests.
   • In case of a tie in written exam scores, candidates' age will be considered for inter-se merit.
6. Character Verification:
   • Character verification will be conducted for selected candidates.
7. Training:
   • Selected candidates will undergo mandatory training.

Syllabus

The written examination will consist of one question paper for 100 marks, with objective-type questions in Hindi/English medium. The exam duration will be 2 hours.

For Forest Guard, Field Guard & Jail Guard:

• Subjects: General Knowledge, General Hindi, General English, General Mathematics, General Science.
• Level: High School (10th) level under the 10+2 system of the Madhya Pradesh Secondary Education Board.
• Total Marks: 100

For Assistant Jail Superintendent:

• Subjects: General Knowledge, General Hindi, General English, General Mathematics, General Science.
• Level: Graduate level.
• Total Marks: 100

How To apply

3. Fill Application Form:
   • Submit one application for all posts and choose your post preference order.
   • Enter permanent identification mark, photo ID details, and Aadhaar number / Aadhaar VID.
4. Upload Documents:
   • Recent passport-size photo (white background, both ears visible).
   • Signature and self-written declaration.
   • 8th / 10th / 12th marksheet (date of birth proof).
   • Category certificates (SC/ST/OBC/EWS etc.) if applicable.
5. Review Application: Carefully check all details before submitting.
6. Pay Application Fee: Pay online using Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking or via MPOnline Kiosk.
7. Print Application: Download and print the application form and payment receipt for future reference.
8. Application Correction: Corrections can be made from 28 Feb 2026 to 19 Mar 2026 by paying the correction fee (some fields cannot be changed).

Required Document

1. High School Certificate/Mark Sheet (8th/10th/12th) as proof of Date of Birth.
2. Educational Qualification Certificates/Mark Sheets (High School for Forest Guard/Field Guard/Jail Guard; Graduate Degree for Assistant Jail Superintendent).
3. Caste Certificate (for SC/ST/OBC) issued by Sub-Divisional Officer (Revenue) in the format prescribed by the Government of MP (for MP residents only).
4. EWS Certificate issued by competent authority (if applicable).
5. Permanent Domicile Certificate of Madhya Pradesh (issued not below the rank of Tehsildar/Naib Tehsildar).
6. Live Birth Certificate of living children (Birth Certificate/School Mark Sheet/Voter ID/Ration Card) to certify birth dates.
7. Ex-Servicemen Certificate issued by the Director, Sainik Kalyan Board (if applicable).
8. Certificate issued by competent authority for incentives under Inter-caste Marriage Promotion Scheme (if applicable).
9. "Vikram Award" certificate issued by MP Government, Sports & Youth Welfare Department (if applicable).
10. Certificate issued by the Head of Institution if employed in MP State Corporation/Board.
11. Certificate issued by competent authority for Home Guard Volunteers/Non-Commissioned Officers of Home Guard Service (proving 3 years of service).
12. Appointment letter/document issued at the time of appointment for contract employees, and a certificate of current employment from a Gazetted Officer of the concerned institution/office (if applicable).
13. No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the employer (for already employed candidates).
14. Proof of live registration in Madhya Pradesh State Employment Office.
15. A self-declaration statement in the candidate's handwriting as specified in the application form.
16. Admit Card for the physical test.
17. Black Ballpoint Pen.
18. Original Photo ID (Voter ID, PAN Card, Aadhaar Card, Driving License, Passport). E-Aadhaar is valid only if verified by UIDAI.

Salary Criteria

The salary structure for selected candidates will be as follows:

• Forest Guard & Field Guard: Pay Scale of ₹19500-62000 (Level 4).
• Jail Guard: Pay Scale of ₹19500-62000 (Level 4) as per 7th Pay Commission.
• Assistant Jail Superintendent: Pay Scale of ₹36200-114800 (Level 9) as per 7th Pay Commission.

Probation Period:

Selected candidates will be placed on a probation period of three years. During this period, they will receive a stipend as follows:

• First Year: 70% of the minimum pay scale.
• Second Year: 80% of the minimum pay scale.
• Third Year: 90% of the minimum pay scale.

Upon successful completion of the probation period, candidates will start receiving full pay scale salary and other allowances as approved by the government from time to time.
