Note on Qualifications:
- Degrees must be from a University/Institute recognized by the appropriate statutory authority in India and should be a regular full-time course.
- For Hindi, degrees obtained through online/correspondence/part-time/ODL are also recognized if the qualification is approved for Central Government employment.
- Minimum qualifying marks: 60% for GENERAL (UR), OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), & EWS. 55% for SC, ST, and Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) candidates.

Selection Process

Selection will be based purely on the merit of the candidates in the Computer Based Online Test (CBT). There will be no interview.

Computer Based Online Test Structure:

  • Duration: 3 hours (in one sitting).
  • Consists of two papers (Paper-I & Paper-II), each of 100 marks.
  • Paper-I: General Knowledge/Awareness, Reasoning, Numerical Ability, and General English (100 MCQs).
  • Paper-II: Professional Knowledge (Discipline-related) (100 MCQs).
  • Each question carries 1 mark. No penalty for wrong answers.
  • The question paper will be bilingual (English and Hindi).

Qualifying Marks in CBT:

  • GENERAL (UR) / EWS: Minimum 40 marks in each paper.
  • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): Minimum 35 marks in each paper.
  • SC / ST / PwD: Minimum 30 marks in each paper.

Final merit list will be prepared based on the marks obtained in the CBT. Document Verification (DV) and Initial Medical Examination (IME) will follow for shortlisted candidates.

Syllabus

The syllabus for the Computer Based Online Test (CBT) consists of two papers:

Paper-I: General Awareness, Reasoning, Numerical Ability, and General English

  • General Knowledge/Awareness: Current affairs, Indian history, Indian geography, Indian economy, General Science, Static GK.
  • Reasoning Ability: Analogies, Syllogism, Blood Relations, Coding-Decoding, Direction Sense, Series, etc.
  • Numerical Ability: Number System, Percentage, Profit & Loss, Ratio & Proportion, Time & Work, Time & Distance, Simple & Compound Interest, etc.
  • General English: Reading Comprehension, Fill in the Blanks, Synonyms-Antonyms, Sentence Improvement, Error Spotting, etc.

Paper-II: Professional Knowledge (Discipline Related)

  • This paper will cover topics specific to the discipline for which the candidate has applied (e.g., Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Geology, etc.). The detailed syllabus for each discipline will be available on the CIL website.

  • PwBD Certificate: Certificate in the prescribed format of Govt. of India along with UDID Card.
  • Scribe Certificate: APPENDIX-I & APPENDIX-II (if applicable).
  • Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) Certificate: Self-attested latest copy of valid Income & Asset certificate.
  • Ex-Servicemen Certificate: Discharge/Service Certificate.
  • No Objection Certificate (NOC): For candidates employed in Government/Semi-Govt./Public Sector Undertakings/Autonomous bodies.
  • Foreign degree holders must attach documents recognizing their degree by the statutory body for government jobs.

Salary Criteria

Selected candidates will be placed as Management Trainee in E-1 Grade in the scale of pay of ₹. 60,000 – 1,80,000/- at the initial Basic of ₹. 60,000/- per month during the training period. On successful completion of 1-year training, they will be confirmed in E-1 Grade as Officer.

In addition to Basic Pay, candidates will be entitled to Dearness Allowance, HRA, perquisites, and allowances under cafeteria approach including Performance Related Pay (PRP) as applicable. Benefits such as Leave, Medical facilities, CMPF, CMPS, Gratuity, and CIL Executive Defined Contribution Pension Scheme will also be admissible as per company rules.
